ThruYou – Mind Blowing YouTube Mashups
Posted on 11. Mar, 2009 by Karri Wells.
Upon arriving at the ThruYou site visitors are greeted with the following message:
“What you are about to see is a mix of unrelated YouTube videos/cips edited together to create ThruYou. In other words – what you see if what you hear. Check you the credits for each video – you might find yourself. . . .”
We’ve been familiar for sometime with audio mashups with people like Girl Talk (Greg Gillis) combining top 40 hits into their own masterpieces. However, doing this with video is an entirely different concept.
Check out my favorite video, Babylon Band.

The “Unofficial” SXSW Torrent
Posted on 03. Mar, 2009 by Karri Wells.
I’ve begun prepping for my trip to SXSW by loading up my iTunes with over 5 gigs of music from 2009 SXSW showcasing artists. I spent all of today listening, and have stumbled across some really good stuff.
You can get the unofficial SXSW torrent for yourself here.
If you hear something on the torrent that you like let me know! I’d love to hear what you think.

Spring Awakening, WOAH!
Posted on 21. Jan, 2009 by admin.
Last night I attended Spring Awakening at the Des Moines Civic Center. Woah, woah, woah. It was fantastic. I was immediately impressed with the music, which was done by Duncan Sheik. I can’t wait to get my hands on the soundtrack so I can sing along to “Totally Fucked” in the car. It was everything one could hope a musical to be, there were four letter expletives, nudity, and on stage dry humping. The vocal talent of the cast was icing on the cake.
Stage seating was offered at this show. These lucky few sat in two sets of bleachers flanking both sides of the stage. I kept wondering, what would happen if one of these people had to go to the bathroom?
The shining star of this production was Kyle Riabko who played the male lead, Melchior. When he sang it sounded like Fergie and Jesus. Not to mention that he bore a striking resemblence to what I imagine “Edward” from Twilight would look like. Which got me to thinking. . . .”Twlight, The Musical.” It would ravage Broadway. I am currently working on lyrics for “Butterscotch Eyes.”
