This innovative advertising experience is blowing my mind.  I’m so awestruck I can barely type, as my brain is exploding thinking of all of the possibilities.  Imagine advertising integrated into a video, but it’s not obtrusive.

Facebook Now Nearly Twice The Size Of MySpace Worldwide

Facebook Now Nearly Twice The Size Of MySpace Worldwide

By saying “everyone and their dog” is on Facebook is fairly accurate.  Facebook is now twice the size of MySpace.

In November 2008 Facebook drew 200 million unique worldwide visitors; more than 1 in 5 people who accessed the Internet that month visited the site. When sites are that big growth generally stagnates, but in Facebook’s case it’s still skyrocketing. In December, 222 million people visited the site says newly released Comscore stats, a 10.8% month over month growth rate. 22% of the total Internet audience went to Facebook in December.

I still remember my college days when Facebook was limited to people with college or university email addresses.  Look how far we’ve come.

Chinese Government Policing the Web

The Chinese government is scrubbing the internet clean of filth and vulgarity to protect their children.

“The purpose of this campaign is very clear.  It’s aimed at creating a healthy Internet environment for all young people and making the Internet in China safer and more reliable.”
- Liu Zhengrong, deputy director of the State Council Information Office’s Internet Bureau.

So far, 1,200 websites have been closed and 41 people have been detained.

I’m all for keeping smut out of the hands of chidren, however, it appears that this is more of an organized effort by the government to censor their citizens.  Here’s an excerpt from article on Rueters.

One of the websites closed in the campaign, which began this month, was bullog.cn, a popular site for Chinese bloggers. Some of the bloggers it hosted had been signatories of Charter 08, a manifesto released in December that called for greater civil freedoms and elections in China.

I’m so grateful that I live in a country where I am able to openly express my options without censorship, and not at risk of incarceration for doing so.  God Bless America.
