Beyonce & Lada Gaga join forces for this smokin’ hot video for “Video Phone” a track off Beyonce’s “I Am…Sasha Fierce”.   The song is absolutely ridiculous, but the video will hypnotize you into thinking it’s the best thing you’ve ever heard.  Except for, “I’ve Got a Feelin“, which I jam to, spray on my Axe and head out to slam some jager bombs with my bros.  Yeah my collars popped.

While we are on the topic of Lady Gaga – check out this performance of her in 2005 at an NYU talent show.  This was back when she still went by Stephanie.

It was like one of those hands in the air, wave-em-like-you-just-don’t-care church services, led by ten people who looked like they’d been transported from a commune circa 1966.  Everyone was singing along, there was lots of smiling and it was incredible.

There was so much energy coming off the stage the stage I was concerned that the room might spontaneously combust.  Jade Castrinos, the main female vocalist sang with her whole heart, and got completely lost in the music.  I’d never seen anything like it before.  She seemed like someone I would want as a BFF.  Someone that does everything with two feet in, and holds nothing back.  “She seems like someone that would have a hard time keeping a positive balance in her checking account,” Brian observed.

Alex Ebert the front man, reminded me a lot of a friend I had in college.  He was the guy that slept in a hammock his senior year of college, brilliant, very kind, and free spirited.

Here is one of my favorite ES&MZ songs, “Home.”

Here she is!!  Get listening!

  1. Pete Yorn – Bizarre Love Triangle
As I’ve said before – I am a total sucker for covers.  Check out Yorn’s cover of New Order’s “Bizarre Love Triangle.”
  2. Dead Man’s Bones – My Body’s a Zombie for You
OMG – as if I needed another reason to totally drool over Ryan Gossling.  He acts, he makes beards ridiculously sexy and now he SINGS!  Cool tidbit about the band – they find a children’s choir in each town they tour to do the background vocals.
  3. The Big Pink – Dominos
  4. Dead Man’s Bones – Pa Pa Power
  5. Florence & the Machine – Bird Song
Florence played in Brooklyn earlier this month, and I am still kicking myself for missing the show.  I have a feeling this chica is incredible live.  She has quite the voice.  Take a listen to her most recent album, appropriately named “Lungs.”
  6. Port O’Brien – I Woke Up Today
My new cool friend Katie introduced me to this band.  Her taste in music is impeccable.  She has a music blog called Broken Tambourine, that you should all check out.
  7. the bird and the bee – Polite Dance Song
  8. The xx – Islands
The xx has been getting a ton of buzz lately.  Take a listen, I think you will understand why :)
  9. Dawes - When My Time Comes
I saw Dawes open for Langhorne Slim earlier this month.  They are good to listen to, but not so great to watch.  The whole band makes really awkward “sex faces.”  If you’ve ever seen John Mayer perform live you know exactly what I’m talking about.
  10. The Magic Numbers – Mornings Eleven
  11. Loney, Dear – Ignorant Boy, Beautiful Girl
